A Guide To Speaking At SMX Conferences
Interested in speaking at an SMX event? Have an idea you’d like to suggest to our programming team? Here’s how it all works!
First, We Ask For Session Ideas
Before an agenda is created, we open up a “suggestion box” for session ideas. At this stage, as we’re developing the agenda, we’re looking for ideas for sessions and suggestions for people we should consider as speakers, but not for speakers for specific panels. That comes later, once the agenda has been finalized. If you’d like to suggest a session, use the form below:

Second, We Ask For Speaking Pitches
After a show’s agenda is posted, we ask people to pitch to speak on specific panels they’re interested in. Even if you suggested an idea earlier, you must pitch to speak on specific panels to be considered, in most cases. The reason is that we work with a group of talented coordinators to choose speakers. If you don’t pitch, they won’t know that you’re interested.

Timeline
These are the general milestones we work from:
- Session Ideas Form opens about 16 weeks before a show, closes 12 weeks before a show
- Final Agenda posted about 11 weeks before a show
- Speaking Pitch Form opens about a week after the final agenda posted, and closes 7 weeks before a show
- All speakers generally selected and posted to the agenda no later than 6 weeks before a show
Also, be sure to watch the SMX Blog. When we’re ready for submissions or pitches for any show, we’ll post there. That’s your cue to use our forms and let us know about your interest.
